Francis Patrick (Frank)HAYDENThe Hayden family would like to share the passing of Francis Patrick Hayden, known to most as Frank and some as Paddy.
Born in Dublin on February 25th 1943, Frank moved to England in 1964, where he joined the RAF as a dog handler in the Military Police. Soon after, while based at Swaffham RAF he met and married his beloved wife of 59 years, Jacqueline (Jackie).
Upon leaving the Air Force, he joined the Grimsby Borough Police, retiring as a Sergeant in 1994, having served honourably for Grimsby & Cleethorpes, with spells in both the regional and national crime squads. His colleagues often refer to his old-school policing skills, but deep down he was more happily remembered for his comradery, his legendary story-telling and his love of the ‘craic’.
Frank loved his golf and was a member and club captain at Grimsby Golf Club. He later joined Waltham Windmill Golf Club, where he enjoyed many days playing and socialising with his friends.
Frank never met a stranger, and his magnetic Irish charm meant he was very popular and loved by many. In his final years, you could find him with his lifelong buddies on a Friday afternoon for the ceremonial ‘4 at 4’. Four pints of Guinness at 4pm.
He is survived by his devoted wife Jackie, children Stephen, Karen, and Richard; two brothers in Ireland, Tony & Albert; and a sister, Patricia, in the USA, along with six wonderful grandchildren and a newly welcomed great-grandchild.
A private service will take place.
