To dear Auntie Jenny.
I will always have the most treasured memories of you from my childhood especially at Shelly Road in Exmouth.
You were always laughing with Uncle Gerald so it was always fun to be with you.
I loved visiting you for the day when you lived in Southport Avenue. You would take me to Coustons for coffee and Danish Pastries. Silver service, it always made me feel special and posh. The pastries were on a cake stand and I could help myself! I thought that no one would know how many I ate until you explained they would know how many they gave us.
We went together to keep fit classes when I was a teenager but we called it keep fat classes as we always went from the classes straight to the fish and chip shop down the road.
I was a bridesmaid at your wedding, I believe that I was only four years old. A ‘job’ I took very seriously. I loved the basket of flowers that I carried so much that I would not let it go. My Dad took it from me when I fell asleep exhausted in bed that night.
You helped me get a Saturday job in Boots. I love the job working for Miss Gowing in the cosmetic department. It felt very special to following in your footsteps.
It was very kind that you and Neil came to Matthew’s baptism on HMS Monmouth it was special to me to have someone from my Devon family there.
There are so many more memories that I hold and I am sure others have special memories too.
I feel very very sad that I did not know of your passing as I would have loved to have said a proper goodbye. I did wonder why your phone number was disconnected but I still sent birthday and Christmas cards hoping that you got them.
I feel comfort in knowing that you and Uncle Gerald are now reunited. Heaven will be full of laughter, mischief and music if Uncle Gerald has a chance to play ELO!
Sleep well and I send you my love. Linda xxxx
