John ThomasHAIRPeacefully at Willow Burn Hospice on 14th January 2025 aged 85 years.

Jack, beloved Husband of Margaret. Dearly loved Dad of Angela, Christine, Karen, Lesley, Adrian and Victoria. Father in law to William, Bede, David, David, Amanda and Kieron. A loving Great Grandad, Brother, Brother in law and Uncle. Jack will sadly missed by all family and friends.

Friends please meet for service at St Andrew's Church, Stanley on Monday 17th February 2025 at 11am.

Family flowers only. Donations if desired to Willow Burn Hospice.

Stanley has lost a great local historian who brought the past life of the area to us with his many publications including his excellent account of the Beamish Explosion in 1942. I'm eternally grateful to him for his determination to have a lasting tribute to the explosion. I was part of the committee formed with Jack to oversee the project come to fruition in 2004. My great grandmother and her 8year old granddaughter were killed in the explosion. I have attended the November service every year and Jack was always there and gave a moving address until ill health prevented him from coming. Thanks Jack. RIP.
