A poem for Elaine
Written by Malcolm Barnes
The Durham
Chimney Sweep.
A wonderful lady,
Make no mistake,
So quickly you’d smile
If we gave you some cake,
You also liked tea,
And going for walks,
We’ll miss all your antics,
We’ll miss all our talks,
We had dogs in our life,
Max, Toby,Scrumpy and Mac,
Such fun times we had,
As we sit looking back ,
You kicked out a spindle,
Hitting Max on the head,
Everyone laughed,
With your face turning red,
They were part of our lives,
We had so much fun,
Much more than dogs,
They were treated like sons,
Hayley often made you laugh,
At inappropriate times and places
You’d try your best to turn away,
With Hayley pulling faces,
Mince pie tasting we tried,
With Carol and Phil,
Writing scores out of ten,
Oh what a thrill,
Amazon will miss you,
The shares now are dropping,
The local driver’s been laid off
Now that you’re not shopping,
Much more than a mother,
Much more than a wife,
We were so blessed to have you,
As part of our life,
You know we all loved you,
Til we meet up again,
God bless and sleep tight,
RIP sweet Elaine.
