Feels strange writing on here… I’ve known you for most of my life and you were definitely a part of our family, many of my childhood memories include you- too many to mention. I was a very shy child, but the first time we met, I took hold of your hand and walked around the Red Barnes in Redcar, looking at the little animals and birds they used to have near the beer garden. Your laugh was infectious- and very distinctive 😂- nobody could hear it and not smile. You never forgot our birthdays and always brought us little presents. I remember you getting me a radio alarm clock and I thought I was the business. Being kept awake by you, Noz and Mike laughing and listening to Pink Floyd and David Bowie and wanting to strangle you all. Your face when you got home from hospital and saw that Noz and I had cleaned the house up for you. Our days out. You loving chocolate but pretending not to. You loving the shepherd's pie I made. Me calling you Dad and you laughing, ‘I wish I’d had the chance’. Your ability to get the measure of someone almost instantly- though you never judged anybody, nor did you care what anyone thought of you. A sage and a comedian. I’ll forever remember you as a kind, gentle, honest and truly pure soul. You’ll never ever be forgotten Pete.

Excuse me, is this Redcar?
