JohnGREAVESMr John Greaves, of Stanhill Road, Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully on New Year’s Eve, surrounded by his family, aged 71. During his life John had various jobs and started his working career as a baker. He was later an ice cream man for many years, where he became affectionately known to his friends as John the lol. He later became a lorry driver and could literally give you directions to anywhere. In his spare time he loved going on holidays to Spain, where he also had many friends. He greatly enjoyed spending time looking after his garden and would do anything he could to help his family. He was also a member of Stanhill Working Men’s Club, where he was well known and was a good friend to many. A loving partner of the late Christine, a much loved dad of Andrea and Mandi, a treasured grandad of Emma and Rebecca, and lifelong friend of Eddie and Mark. John will be very sadly missed by all his loving family and friends. His funeral service will be held at 11.30am on Tuesday, January 12 at Stanhill Methodist Church, prior to committal at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please, but donations are welcomed for the East Lancashire Hospice in memory of John, and may be made by phone, by post, or by envelope drop off at the funeral home (Accrington or Oswaldtwistle).
