Dr Surjit SinghGILLPassed away peacefully on the morning of the 25th of September 2024, aged 87.

As an Ophthalmologist, he served the community of Torbay, Newton Abbot, Kingsbridge and Sidmouth for over 50 years; often treating three generations of the same family.

As one of the first Sikh gentleman to settle in Torquay, he has always been a recognisable figure in the community and was both very popular and highly respected.

He will be hugely missed by his beloved wife, four children and ten grandchildren, of whom he was immensely proud.

A funeral will be held at: Torquay Crematorium at 2.30pm, Saturday 19th October

No flowers please, by request, donations in loving memory to RNIB, which may be given by retiring collection, on-line at www.kjlackfuneralservice.co.uk or sent to

Members of my family were treated by Dr Gill for nearly 40 years. We all thought that it was a real privilege to have him as our ophthalmologist. His kindness, patience and specialist skills were unsurpassable. R.I.P Dr Gill. We will always remember you.
