I would like to thank Alan for being there for me in the mid to late 70's when I was a lost soul living in bed sit land in Heavitree. He saw that I was having a tough time getting on in life, had lost my job and struggling to make ends meet. I forget how I met him but he offered me casual work at his home Ivington farm, work that lasted for for a few years and helped me get myself straightened out giving me hope for the future. We became Pals and shared many an evening drinking halves of lager, he even let me use his Jaguar XJ6 when I needed a car. I was lucky enough to have tracked him down met him around 4 years ago while he was having dinner in Clyst St Mary. I am so pleased that I at least had the opportunity to thank him in person for helping me back then. God Bless Alan
