I served in HMS Bristol with Jim and he was the most approachable, fair and likeable Commander I have ever known. Ona time ,on return from deployment it was pouring down in Portsmouth and the ship was delayed getting alongside. He announced over the main broadcast that anyone whose family were coming on board he would buy them a drink by way of saying sorry. What a gent !
