Mr Edkins taught me when I was at Our Lady of the Wayside. I remember him fondly, he was a firm but fair teacher. But even from a young age I knew he cared and really pushed us to do our best. Rest in Peace Mr Edkins, you certainly made a positive difference to many students :)

I first met Bob in the early 70s when I was a pupil at Our Lady's in Tile Cross. I was fortunate to work with him later at Olow in the late 90s/early 00s. He was a lovely man and a super teacher. RIP Bob.

Mr. Edkins was more than just my favorite teacher—he was a true inspiration. His lessons at Our Lady of the Wayside in 1986 were filled with creativity and excitement. I still remember the joy of building cities and writing newspapers in his classroom, experiences that made learning feel like an adventure.

Beyond the classroom, he played an important role in my life as the sponsor for my Confirmation, a responsibility he took with kindness and encouragement.

Now, as an educator myself, I often think of his influence when I use project-based learning to engage my own students. I was lucky enough to meet him again as an adult and to thank him for the impact he had on my life.

I am deeply saddened by his passing, but his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched. Thank you, Mr. Edkins—you will always be remembered.

I remember Mr Edkins fondly from my Wayside days and loved the way he made our lessons fun. I still use his famous Times Tables Shootout game with classes I teach today. We all appreciated the fact that he gave up his time to take us on trips, most memorably to Butlins (twice!) and he was an all round great teacher. Sending love to Lucy (who became a good friend of mine later on at university) and to all the family. Laura Doyle (McCormack) xxx

Mr Edkins taught me in juniors at Our Lady of the Wayside and he was one of those teachers that you just never forget. He was incredibly kind and thoughtful and knew how to make everything interesting and fun. We were so lucky to have him. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. RIP and thank you for everything x Lara Fleming
