LeonardDOWERMR Leonard Dower, of Friar Court and formerly of Water Street, Accrington, passed away on Saturday, February 29, aged 87. Leonard served in the army as National Service, then resumed his working life as a joiner for a local building company. He was a member of Accrington Homing Society, a racing homing pigeon club. Leonard kept an allotment, raced his pigeons and, following his retirement, constructed many lofts and cabins for the local pigeon fanciers. He was uncle of Susan and her husband Ian, cousin of Clifford and his wife Kim, uncle of Samantha and step-uncle of Kathryn and Craig. The funeral and cremation was held on Friday, March 13, at 10.20am, led by Sandra Howles at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to Oswaldtwistle Homing Society.
