MargaretDICKINSONOf Belvedere Care Home, formerly of Moss Hall Road, passed away peacefully in Blackburn Royal Hospital on Monday, September 25, aged 81 years.

Margaret was a much loved wife of the late Melvyn Dickinson, much loved mother to Andrew and Helen, sister to John and sister-in-law to Adrienne and Rodney. Margaret leaves several treasured Nieces and Nephews, in particular her beloved niece Kathleen.

Margaret was born in Widnes and moved to Accrington in 1957. Margaret married Melvyn at Whalley Parish Church in 1966. Margaret spent her working life as a primary school teacher, primarily at Green Haworth Primary School and then for many years at St Mary Magdalene’s Church of England Primary School before retiring from ill health. When she wasn’t in the classroom Margaret helped Melvyn in the newsagents they owned on Union Road, Oswaldtwistle and then the confectionary shop they later ran for over 20 years in Burnley Road, Accrington. Margaret was a member of Cambridge street Methodist Church for many years, she enjoyed attending the Mother’s Group there. Margaret enjoyed regular reunions with her life long college friends and was a season ticket holder at Accrington Stanley for many years.

Margaret’s funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, October 13 at 1.40pm followed by interment in the cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations in memory of Margaret are being gratefully received on behalf of The Stroke Association c/o champfunerals.com/ obituaries.

Very sorry to hear the sad news. I remember Mrs Dickinson from when I ran the playgroup in Cambridge Street Methodist Church. She was a lovely lady. Xx
