BrendaCORNWALLISBrenda passed away peacefully on 29th October 2021 after an eventful and interesting life, formerly of Polwarth, Stockbridge, is survived by her sons James and George, daughter-in-law Bitten, and grandchildren Sophie, Theresa, Peter, Erik, and Claire. Brenda was an avid and active supporter of Greenpeace and UNICEF and would raise money every year for Scotland's charity Aberlour Trust by selling antiques bought from charity shops and then sold at the yearly Grassmarket fair. :)
Brenda was an artist, poet, antique enthusiast, and a really good cook who could have an engaging conversation with anyone about anything (and often did!). Her adventurous spirit led her to travel around Europe, North Africa, India and Thailand, to experience and enjoy different cultures, beliefs, and lifestyles.
Brenda's respect and love for Lilias Graham and family was immutable and undoubtedly influenced her vocation choices. During her life, she worked with Braendam House, Social work, was a Director of Women’s Aid, and started up Gingerbread groups supporting women, children, and single-parent families to overcome personal hardships. Her indomitable spirit encouraged others to persist in the face of struggles. Her parting words reflected her spiritual beliefs: “I want to be reincarnated as a butterfly.”
