When I first came to Our Lady's 26 years ago as a newly qualified teacher, I had the pleasure of working with Moira, who was then retired but working voluntarily delivering music lessons across the school. She introduced me to many Caribbean songs such as 'Linstead Market' and 'One of Me Dumplings Gone.' These were such a treat for my Year 2 class and I. We looked forward to Mrs Cloherty's lesson each week. Later when I was teaching in Year 3, Moira worked with us in the classroom, sharing her experiences of life in Moss Side during World War 2. We could have listened to her vivid recollections all day long. She was far better than any text book. She brought our history lessons to life. Moira welcomed me into Our Lady's and always encouraged me professionally. That meant a lot to me. In recent times Moira referred to me as ' the boss' but Moira was always 'the boss.' She was a real inspiration to me and to so many others Her love and commitment to Our Lady"s chilren was remarkable.
Thank you Moira.

I was a pupil in Our ladys primary school from 1973 till 1981. I had the absolute honour of having Mrs Cloherty to teach me to play several musical instruments!! She had such a passion for music and that shone right through her. I have fond memories of her arriving to school on her bicycle which had no brakes, with her little basket at the front of her bike which she placed her handbag in. She also taught my daughter Charlotte, she used to say that made her feel old but we laughed together at that. I had the absolute pleasure to go and see Mrs. Cloherty at her home last year with Mr Fernandes and that was just lovely. Mrs Cloherty you were a true diamond, so dedicated to your job and loved all the children in school. You will be sadly missed and we will never, ever forget you or your famous bike!! May you RIP with your husband and children x
