RaymondBYROMPEACEFULLY in hospital on Monday, January 6, surrounded by his loving family Ray aged 85, of Oswaldtwistle. Former Accrington Stanley player Ray started his business Ray's Garage Supplies in 1972. Ray's became a leading supplier in the area and is still operating today under the second generation of the Byrom family. Ray has enjoyed a 25-year retirement making the most of each day. Ray was a member of Immanuel Bowling Club, Oswaldtwistle and always looked forward to getting on the green for a game of bowls with his team mates. Ray and his beloved wife Agnes loved to travel and spent their winter months enjoying the warm climate of Tenerife and in the summer months they always looked forward to spending time at their caravan at Broadwater, Fleetwood. The devoted and much-loved husband of Agnes, loving dad of Ian, David, Alan, Elaine and Craig, dear father-in-law of Joanne, Nina, Karen, Andy and Linda, cherished grandad of Holly, Alex, Mia, Ami, Ronnie, Joel, Nicole, Jade, Lloyd, Harvey, Sam, great-grandad of Lennon, Minnie, Jaxon and Olli, loved brother of Tony and his wife Pat and a much respected friend to many. A funeral service was held on Friday, January 24, with a Requiem Mass celebrated in St Mary's RC Church, Oswaldtwistle followed by cremation at Accrington Crematorium.
