Thomas Brennan, beloved husband of Alma Brennan (nee Byrne), of Calgary, AB, passed away in the early hours of Monday, January 27, 2025, at the age of 95 years. He lived a hard working, vibrant and generous life.
Thomas was born in Liverpool, Merseyside, UK, on January 30, 1929. Thomas married Alma in 1957, at the Merseyside courthouse in Liverpool and they immigrated to Canada and moved to Calgary, AB, in 1965.
He attended school in Liverpool and enjoyed a colourful career moving up from being a dockyard labourer to retiring a valued document control specialist at a Calgary engineering firm. He was meticulous, and in many ways, self-taught.
Thomas enjoyed good music, Princess cruises, his Mercedes E420, and many trips to Banff and Kananaskis. He was a devoted father and grandfather; doing anything and everything he could to support family. He is fondly remembered for these and many other exceptional qualities by his family and friends on both sides of the Atlantic.
Thomas is survived by his two grandchildren, Kevin of Hinton, AB, and Carrie-Anne of Lethbridge, AB; and his three great-grandchildren, Ariel of Kamloops, BC, Ciara of Lethbridge, AB, and Rinka of Hinton, AB. Thomas is also survived by his brother, John Butler, sister Mary Black, and brother-in-law John Black, all of Liverpool, UK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Thomas was predeceased by his beloved wife Alma, and his son, Colin Gedling.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
