When I was a child, Reverent Beasley was the Vicar at my church in Forest Town Mansfield. My family and I thought he was a great character, very down to earth and approachable.
I remember when the church caught fire, my Nan (Ethel Mary Blount,) baked buns for raising funds for the Church roof.
When Walter moved over to St Mary’s Church Bulwell, I remember feeling very sad to lose him. However, he went on to being a great character there too and much liked and respected.
Walter is buried only a few yards away from my Mum, (Phyllis May Streets), who was a Bulwell girl and eventually married at St Mary’s. So again I can pay my respects to Reverent Beasley, when I go to see to Mum’s headstone, which makes me feel happy.
Thank you and Bless you Walter
Yvonne Blount from Forest Town.
