GordonBARKERGordon aged 88, passed away on November 28th. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Audrey, who passed away in June this year, after 66 years of marriage. He leaves his loving daughter Susan, the late Elaine and son-in-law Craig. He was the much-loved grandad of Kelly, Samantha, Zoe, David, Emily and Sofie as well as the cherished great grandad to Matthew, Ted, Curtis, Phoebe, Theo, Elaina, Tilly, Oscar and the late Ellis. Gordon was a dear brother, uncle, cousin, friend and acquaintance to many.
He was born and lived in Accrington all his life and attended the Accrington Boys Grammar School.
After leaving school, he trained as a fitter/engineer and worked at Mullards, Blackburn and B.A.E. Systems in Samlesbury. Gordon had many hobbies including, fishing, rambling and playing snooker.
He was a Burnley Football Club supporter and attended for many seasons. Gordon also liked to watch Accrington Stanley as well as many other sports. His passion was motorbikes, which he had from an early age. Gordon was a member of the Vintage Motorbike Club- he restored, exhibited and regularly rode several vintage bikes, only recently replacing them with a convertible sports car.
He socialised at Burnley Road Bowling Club, Bold Street Club and the Canine Club. He was an accomplished pianist and played at many local clubs. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
Always in our hearts. Gordon and Audrey re-united forever.
A celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Friday, December 13th at Accrington Crematorium.
