Richard ArthurADAMS MBERichard Adams passed away on 21st December after a short illness.
Richard is survived by his wife Jill, daughter Rosie, son Jonathan, and 6 much loved grandchildren, Hetty, George, Rose, Ed, TJ, and Benjy. Richard lived and worked in Birmingham all his life. He went to West House School followed by Pangbourne College, where he gained a life-long interest in the Navy. He was a chartered accountant, qualifying at Impey Cudworth, and then working at Pepper Rudland & Co, Peat Marwick & Mitchell, returning to Peppers as a Partner, which became BDO Stoy Hayward. After he retired from practice, he applied his huge accounting experience to the manufacturing industry, working for Titgemeyer UK and Baker & Finnemore. In 2012, Richard was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours "for voluntary service to SSAFA Forces Help in the West Midlands", the charity supporting Veterans, serving Soldiers & Families of the Armed Forces in our communities. He played an important role managing the finances for the West Midlands for over 40 years. Richard had many interests including history, steam engines and railways, stamp collecting, and motor sports, both modern Grand Prix and historic racing cars of all types. His favourite places included Oulton Park and Goodwood motor racing circuits.
Richard's Thanksgiving Service will be held at midday on Thursday 23rd January at Edgbaston Old Church, followed by lunch at Edgbaston Golf Club. Please wear a splash of colour!
