Mary, a dear and cherished friend to our parents, Derrick and Pat. A friendship which began at the age of four between our late mother, Pat at Stanley Road Primary School. Mary was always the sensible, loyal and trustworthy one of the pair. She recalled “peeling our mother from a lamppost,” when our mother, celebrating her 21st birthday, had clearly overdone the alcohol, ensuring that she got home safely. Mary chuckled “You know we were caught topping up the gin with water by your Nan though.”
They shared much fun and happy memories together as a pair and later with their partners, Ron and Derrick. She regularly visited and supported our mother in later life as our mother battled with Alzheimer’s. A truly special friend who will be forever remembered for her kindness. Rest in peace, Aunty. X
