I loved working with Jennifer, she was always positive and we shared a sense of fun and laughter. I wish I had known her for longer.

Tribute to Jennifer from Cousin Elaine & ‘Cousin-in-law’ Bob

The happy times that we remember (although there were many more in the earlier Manchester days) were the Johnson Family’s bi-annual visits to Windermere Marina and the lunches that Jennifer & Alastair prepared for us over two decades. They were beautifully cooked, beautifully presented, well lubricated, and very much enjoyed in the tasteful surroundings of the home Jennifer & Alastair created at Silver Rigg.

There were also some very good meals we enjoyed together at our favourite Indian restaurant in Bowness.

Remembering, too, Jennifer’s associations with the Bard – there was the unforgettable outdoor performance of Midsummer Night’s Dream on the lawn at Storrs Hall. It was an evening more suited to The Tempest than to The Dream since wind and rain stopped the show. The cast scattered for shelter just after Oberon had mouthed the lovely lines:

‘I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine’

Good dreams, dear Jennifer.

Bob & Elaine.
