I was very sad to hear the news about Catherine. I worked at Radio Sheffield in 1980 - for 3 years which is where I met her. She was always so lively - sometimes I couldn't keep up with her as she ran from the Production Office to the studio upstairs. I didn't work in the same room as her but always knew when she was around. She was fun to chat to and easy to get along with.
My sincere condolences to her family.

I met Kate at BBC Radio Sheffield where she was not only a good colleague but a kind friend. She was much valued in the newsroom as a no-nonsense, highly effective journalist and respected in the wider station. She could also be relied on to be sociable and fun-loving. She will be much missed.

Kate was an outstanding journalist. In her radio & TV interviews, she was always reasonable and helpful until the final killer question that left the interviewee reeling and delivered the answer for the viewers! Kate was vastly experienced and highly respected throughout the broadcast media. When she left the BBC and joined NHS Forth Valley, she continued to be a superb professional. Chatting with Kate was always great fun and she will be very sadly missed.

Kate, you were an absolute treasure, I am really sad to read this. Thanks for the laughs, chats and stories that we shared over the years at knit nights, wandering around wool festivals and rare meetings for coffees and a few rows of knitting. Thanks for all the memories, especially from your time as a BBC reporter. I will forever remember you on the telly and finishing off your report with your name and where you were reporting from .... you will never be forgotten x
