Dear Annette, Mark, Debs and family,
We are so sorry and sad to hear the news about John. We know how close you were. He figures strongly in our memories and we will all miss him greatly. Even the arguments! Although they were few and far between.
He was a pleasure to be with and we cherish the many happy times that we all spent together. From many, many, years ago and the chewing gum machine incident, to the time he loved to tell how Mam clouted me on the beach! Our Mam choking on the way to Portsmouth and John thinking, how the hell am I going to lift her! The way you both looked after Dad when he was on his own. To the family get togethers, various anniversaries and weddings and times when we came to visit you both in Lavernock Road and Britten Road. There was always a welcome and plenty of whiskey! John inspired me to play guitar (badly), you and he bought me my first guitar, which battered and bruised is still around. I’m not sure Mam and Dad thanked you for it though.
John always used to have a range of jokes ready to go and in later years, the not so secretive smoking! We have loads of lovely memories of you and John.
You have a lovely close and supportive family, which is an absolute credit to you both.
We are all diminished for losing him but richer for having known him.
Lots of love Chris & Ginny
