DorothyCRAWSHAWIt is with great sadness to announce that Dorothy Crawshaw, of Hargreaves Drive, Rawtenstall, died suddenly at Salford Royal Hospital on Monday, October 28. Dorothy leaves behind husband Brian, daughters Melanie and Rebecca and their partners - Steve and Simon, three grandchildren Olivia, Millie and Harri and brother Leonard. Dorothy worked for Rossendale Borough Council, later becoming Greenvale Homes (now Together Housing), for several years as a housing officer. Dorothy spent her last working years as a shop manager for Rossendale Hospice until retirement and then returning to the hospice as a volunteer. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, holidays to Majorca with husband, Brian, reading, baking and gardening. Dorothy grew up in Shawforth with her mum, dad and brother. She married husband, Brian, in 1974, and had two children, Melanie and Rebecca. A short service will be held at the Chapel of Rest (Fred Hamer Funeral Service, James Street, Rawtenstall, BB4 7NE) on Thursday, November 14, at 10.45am, followed by a service at Burnley Crematorium at 11.30am. Family flowers only with donations to Rossendale Hospice if desired. Funeral director Dawn Winfield, Fred Hamers Rawtenstall.

I was a work colleague of Dorothy's at Rossendale BC in the 1980s and 1990s. I am so sad to hear of your passing. God bless Dorothy.

Dorothy was my best friend and confidant during our teenage years. We spent many happy times together, often getting into things our mum's would not have approved of! I spent many a happy hour with Dorothy and Leonard at their house, listening to some excellent music and putting the world to rights. We kept in touch sporadically over the years and in many ways our lives mirrored each other. We were both teenage mums and by all accounts she was a wonderful mum and grandma. She will be sadly missed. RIP my friend.
