Dear Sue & Cath, So sorry to hear the news of Mick passing away, I'm sorry we will not be able to attend the funeral as we are away in Northumberland for a few days with family that week. please give our love and condolences to all the family, we will be thinking of you on the day.
I first met Mick when he was at Broomfield Hall, my brother was on the same course 1960/61. In 1969 I joined Mick at J F Lever & Co as a salesman on the Animal Health, Spray Chemical side of the business. Mick was always very supportive and we ended up good friends. He got me involved with Burton Junior NFU and we had some great times at the annual Dinner Dance and Ball at Burton Town Hall, we also spent New Years with Mick and other farming friends.
When I first joined levers we needed to find a house in the area and ended up in Hilton and it was only through Mick and Mr Mason support that we were able to put a deposit on the house, this was our first step on the property ladder.
I spent severn very enjoyable years at Levers working with Mick it was a very friendly place to work.
It was through Mick that I got to work with national companies like ICI, FISONS, CIBA GEIGY eventually joining ICI Animal Health Dept in Oct 1976, moving to Market Harborough to look after Leicestershire and Northamptonshire calling on farms and working with local agricultural merchants. In 1980 they asked if we would like to move to Cumbria to which we agreed straight away.
It was thanks Mick, for his support and encouragement that Joan & I have ended up in Cumbria and enjoyed a very successful career in agriculture
I hope the day goes well for you and the sun shines.
Thank you for letting me know, our thoughts will be with you.
Take care love, Norman & Joan Brown, Elphin, Kirkoswald, Penrith, Cumbria. CA10 1EN
