we were saddened to hear of the passing of John who to my mind was a real gentleman and a warm, kind and dedicated headmaster, who without his advice and guidance I would not have made it into medical school and surgery, Whenever I bumped into him in Penrith he would always stop for a chat and as was his way encourage me to keep improving myself. No doubt he was always stoping for chats to catch up with his former pupils, which continued once he retired and 'came back home' and enjoy al that our wonderful county has to offer. It is with deepest sympathy that I offer my condolences to Marion for the loss of John who will be sadly missed. Anthony and Margaret Dixon
