Beryl AnnELMSIt is with sadness that the granddaughter of Beryl Ann Elms announces her passing, on the 19th of December 2024, at the age of 95.

Known affectionately as 'Ber' by those close to her, she will be a sorely missed member of Penarth Community and St Cyres' School Alumni.

She will be lovingly remembered by surviving family members, especially her Granddaughter Amy Evans.

Beryl passed away peacefully at Bellavista Nursing Home Cardiff, where she had been resident after a hospital visit in April 2023, after short stays at Hebron Hall and Wentworth Lodge Residential Homes, respectively.

Born 2nd December 1929, in Aberdare, Beryl grew up in the loving home of Margaret and John Howard Morgan.

Aberdare community truly was Beryl's home, a community she would return to after completing her university education and teacher training in both Swansea and London, which she thoroughly enjoyed; the first woman in her family to attend university and hold down a profession.

Fiercely independent, Beryl continued to thrive on returning to Wales, working in many South Wales Schools with great recommendation, references and referrals.

After marrying and residing in Manor Way, Cardiff and Paget Place, Penarth, she welcomed daughter Ann.

Her career amassed an excellent 24 years at St Cyres School.

She later had a very active retirement residing in Hill Terrace, Penarth, often attending Holy Nativity Church a mere 10 yards from her front door. She was a cherished member of the Mother's Union, Penarth Bowls Club and Penarth Seniors Club.

After Ann unfortunately passed away Beryl helped raise her granddaughter Amy, her surviving next of kin.

A funeral service to remember Beryl will be held on January 21st at 12.30pm in Holy Nativity Church, Penarth.
